Reiki
Rei – Spirit and Ki – Universal Life Energy work together in this practice to form a holistic, spiritually based system of healing for the mind, body, and spirit.
During a Reiki session, the practitioner allows “life force energy” to flow into the client’s own energy system. Through this process of receiving healing energy, the client experiences improvement and relief wherever it is most needed.
Reiki is often referred to as a “laying on of hands” not only because of the way practitioners use their hands as conduits for energy, but because many clients have reported feeling a gentle heat coming from the hands of their practitioners as they receive treatment.
Reiki is now a well researched and widely used practice in hospitals, rehabilitation centers, and nursing homes. Though not a replacement for Western or traditional treatment modalities, it does pair well with those methods in reducing stress, increasing relaxation, and facilitating healing.
When our “life force energy” is blocked, weakened, or depleted, we are made vulnerable to stress, illness, and pain. We are much more likely to be healthy, happy, and balanced when our “life force energy” is strong and flowing freely through our systems.
As with any healing practice, the greatest benefits of Reiki come to those clients who are deeply committed to their own wellness and recovery.
